It's official, I'm hosting Thanksgiving for the very first time ever! Although this feels a little overwhelming and slightly ironic as I don't actually eat Turkey, or any meat for that matter...I'm taking the opportunity in stride and actually really looking forward to it. My menu will include a turkey (for my loved ones, LOL), roasted brussel sprouts with shallots and bacon (and some without for me!), creamy sweet potatoes with brown sugar crumble topping, mashed potatoes, rosemary stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce and gravy, and last but not least, vegan and gluten free apple crumble and pumpkin pie! It's always my mission when cooking for my family and friends to create the classic family favorites in the healthiest way possible and to exclude the excessive dairy and gluten where possible so that I too can enjoy the meal. I really do think the holidays are all about balance. I am not one to stop myself from that extra cookie or third slice of pie. I personally believe its more important to cook and bake with the simply and clean ingredients and then enjoy the finished product to your heart's content. my favorite festive Thanksgiving items
While we definitely had most of what we needed already, as we love to cook, we did need a few things as far as table decor and turkey roasting tools so we looked to 3 of our favorite shopping destinations, both in-store and online for assistance. Cue Amazon, Pottery Barn, and William Sonoma.
