Big gifts, medium gifts, stocking stuffers, and everything between for your boyfriend, best friend, dad, husband, and grandfather.
Take the guesswork out of the holidays and buy him something thats "dude-approved."
I keep a running "wish list" year-round on Pinterest, which serves as a catchall for product details and a place to compare and contrast my future purchases, rank what I want vs. need, AND let's me save links for easy access when it comes time to put together a guide, birthday list, or Christmas list each year! Do you keep a running wish list throughout the year? Or do you wait until you are in the holiday spirit and your grandmother is hounding you to send her a list? *Is it just me who has a crazy organized family that hounds me for a list from all angles, over a month before the holidays each year? I would love to hear about your family wish list traditions and timelines, along with the #1 item you are hoping for this year- let me know in the comments below!
Because every mom deserves a little soft, a little scented, and a little sassy! Is it just me, or is shopping for your mom the best part of Christmas shopping? I don't know about the rest of you, but I absolutely love picking things out for my mom. Mostly because my mom has great taste....and I will confess that we basically love all the same things so if I find something that I absolutely love, chances are she will go crazy over it too. I do owe my fabulous mom a shout out here, as some of these are what I would consider "trademarked favorites" of Christmas lists past, and thus, they will forever have a place on my annual gift guides. I have gotten my mom various items from the Joe Malone Red Roses line every year for as long as I can remember, as she counts on Christmas for her annual stock up. Seriously, if you haven't sniffed their scents yet, go to Bloomies and head to their counter - the Pomegranate Noir is my go-to scent!
Happy Sunday!! I am posting the first of my holiday gift guides, and I can't wait to hear what you think! 2018 has been a year full of celebrating the ladies in my life whom I hold closest, so this seemed to be a fitting first guide of the season. Let me know your go-to gifts for the girls in the comments below!
Whether you are shopping for your sister, best friend, cousin, coworker-turned-confidant, or your spin class ride-or-die, there is something on this guide for every girl on your list this year. Whether she is a non-profit lover that is always making an impact, a sun seeker, self-care extraordinaire, give her a gift that will make her smile and won't break the bank.
I truly never would have guessed that we would be hosting Thanksgiving the first year in our apartment, but honestly, it felt perfect and wasn't nearly as overwhelming as I anticipated! Turns out this vegetarian/mostly vegan can cook one heck of a turkey! Dinner, bird included, received 5 star reviews! Personally, my turkey day favorites include brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes (DM me for the recipe to the sweet potato bake pictured below - first time and they were AMAZING), and gluten/dairy free pumpkin pie. Alex absolutely loves charcuterie, so I always leave that part up to him, and he never disappoints - AND he's a happy guy on this very chilly and cozy Friday because we have tons of leftovers for turkey sandwiches with all of the fixings! Also, how cute is my table cloth? - TG for Home Goods the Sunday before the holiday! I had so much fun buying flowers and putting together the floral arrangement to match - so lucky to have a Whole Foods down the road with the most incredible flower selection, no matter what the season!
*Not pictured, but not forgotten: vegan mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce, vegan/gf pumpkin pie and gravy!
Naturally I got so caught up in taking photos of my success in the kitchen that I took 0 photos of my outfit or with Alex and Mookie. Theres always next year! I went for comfy classics for a zero fuss look!
After working for a huge retailer for 3 years and surviving many Black Friday nightmares, I will admit that the absolute last think I wanted to do this year on this dreaded day was shop. Instead I enjoyed a nice workout, a long walk with Alex and Mookie, and a quiet gathering with some family friends. This may not come as a total shock, but it was complete HEAVEN not having to be around the madness of people shopping. Although I would have happily avoided shopping on the day altogether. I did take the huge 50% sale at J.Crew as a message that it was about time that I pony up and order a new winter coat. I've had a number of jackets from J.Crew over the years, and although they don't necessarily last forever, they never disappoint on price and warmth - which as far as I'm concerned, don't always go hand in hand, so I figure if it only lasts a few seasons, it is not the end of the world. See the jacket I chose, linked below! As for the ShopBop and Backcountry sales, I unfortunately did not pull the plug on any favorites, but I did link a few of the items that I sure wish I had waited to buy until this sale, but oh well!
1. ShopBop: Up to 25% off full-price items and up to 75% off sale items. Great opportunity to scoop up big ticket items and your favorite basics that never go on sale and scan through the hundreds of accessories, and designer favorites that are no heavily marked down!
2. J.Crew: 50% almost everything on the site - including my thanksgiving bodysuit and new fave winter staple is on sale - Scoopneck Stretch Velvet Bodysuit, the best pom pom hat on the planet, and the Perfect Winter Parka - which is super cozy, animal lover - friendly with faux fur and synthetic non-down fill, AND comes in tall and petite sizes (I ordered the Tall Small parka in black this morning, as well as two new pom pom hats and this super cozy Polartec 1/2 Zip!)
3. Backcounty: The best time of year to scoop up all of those Patagonia items you've been eying all fall and winter accessory stocking stuffers for the whole family!
It's official, I'm hosting Thanksgiving for the very first time ever! Although this feels a little overwhelming and slightly ironic as I don't actually eat Turkey, or any meat for that matter...I'm taking the opportunity in stride and actually really looking forward to it. My menu will include a turkey (for my loved ones, LOL), roasted brussel sprouts with shallots and bacon (and some without for me!), creamy sweet potatoes with brown sugar crumble topping, mashed potatoes, rosemary stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce and gravy, and last but not least, vegan and gluten free apple crumble and pumpkin pie! It's always my mission when cooking for my family and friends to create the classic family favorites in the healthiest way possible and to exclude the excessive dairy and gluten where possible so that I too can enjoy the meal. I really do think the holidays are all about balance. I am not one to stop myself from that extra cookie or third slice of pie. I personally believe its more important to cook and bake with the simply and clean ingredients and then enjoy the finished product to your heart's content. I am so excited to let all of you know how it goes! Check out my Pinterest inspo below and some of the things we may pick up before the holiday!

While we definitely had most of what we needed already, as we love to cook, we did need a few things as far as table decor and turkey roasting tools so we looked to 3 of our favorite shopping destinations, both in-store and online for assistance. Cue Amazon, Pottery Barn, and William Sonoma.
Stay tuned for photos from the main event! Fingers crossed that we manage to pull it off in a tasty and timely fashion!
Is it just me or did it go from sort of fall to winter overnight in the Northeast? Not sure what happened, but frankly my wardrobe (outerwear included) and my mindset were not ready for this sudden dip in temperature. The only good thing that has come it this sudden plunge into arctic sub 40 degree weather, is the renewed sense of urgency in my hunt for a new parka. Unfortunately my beloved old J.Crew Factory parka did not survive to see another winter, so here I am, scanning the internet and deciding whether to make a fiscally responsible choice....or to go for something a little more...sublime. Where is your winter parka from and what is your favorite place to shop outerwear? Let me know in the comments below!
$200 - $300
Needless to say we couldn't be happier about picking up this little boy on Sunday. It was a super crazy week between hearing from our original Golden Retriever breeder that the litter they were expecting this September had not been conceived, researching and finding a new Golden breeder that still had one male left, and driving to and from Vermont to celebrate the marriage of two of our best friends. Although we ended up with a puppy a few weeks before we had planned, it was love at first site and after finding out that the mom of this litter's name is Zoey, we knew we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take home this little guy. And by little, I mean 9 weeks and 20 pounds of straight fluff, big smiles, and sass.
