Since moving in with my boyfriend at the beginning of 2018, we have slowly blended styles, made some compromises and made a few purchases here and there. One of the first purchases we made was a new mattress, headboard and bed! Very exciting stuff - we both experienced a "bed-in-a-box" delivery for the first time and it was as thrilling as expected - LOL. Ultimately, we went with the Puffy because of this Ellen Degeneres Video along and the endless 5-star reviews. After looking at tons of headboards, we went with this neutral one, also pictured below, for its ability to blend in, match any bedding, wall color, etc, and for something soft to lean up against since we also purchased this enormous second television for our bedroom....I took some convincing on this one, but if you know me and how much I love baseball and how much I love blogging in bed, you can see how I've come around.
I LOVE a clean, simple, neutral color palette which compliments our apartment's dark wood floors nicely. We lucked out with a ton of natural light - pictures to come soon - so we stuck to clean whites with splashes of dark woods, natural chenille and jute area rugs, pops of bright green potted plants, and the occasional splash of dark blues and navy to add some dimension.
If you didn't know, my first internship in college was in interior design and I had an absolute blast. I still dream of the day where I can incorporate more of this into my day to day life. I think this is why having a new space to plan, rearrange and decorate has been so much fun for me lately. Alex has been a saint when it comes to being super easy going and opinionated, but also willing to compromise - saying yes to the TV in the bedroom definitely helped. Luckily, we were given some pretty unique vintage pieces and acquired a few basic staples *cue our hand-me-down white Ikea couches* that have created a kind of Rustic-Coastal vibe and we are embracing it. If you haven't tried Brooklinen bedding yet, I strongly encourage giving them a shot. It washes beautifully and is so soft and cool to the touch - and we LOVE their lightweight duvet. We have the "Move-In Bundle" and will definitely be purchasing more in the near future. To compliment the clean white bedding, I'm all about these Roller Rabbit Pillow Cases, I grew up with Roller Rabbit bedding, and I have a deep love for their colorful prints and their fabrics that just get softer and softer with time. I have my eye on this pillow for my next purchase! Currently, we are trying to find the last few pieces of really special artwork and saving up for the side tables that will complete our bedroom set - stay tuned!
